http://forums.delphiforums.com/alexb...es?msg=45104.5 has some informative details. The link DBS found is for Florida, not NJ, although some of the horses in FL apparently came from NJ, if I read that right.

(They tried to consolidate the info)

Unfortunate, and does up the risk on auction/ traveling horses of all breeds and ages, including show and breeding stock.

Exerpt from NJ Vet in charge of the QT

This was my take on this news on ABR. This was posted on the ABR by AC4H and will be on their website. If you go on the ABR forum thread: Warning, there is a lot of misinformation and extrapolation and unrelated cases being discussed, (Rhinovirus EHV4 pneumonia and Influenza) reader beware. The original tested positive horse for EHV1 and 3 others originated at the Crowley Auction in Massachusettes. These horses came thru from FLA to the Crowley auction. The FLA Racetrack case mentioned in the post by DBS was cleared for positive cases.

The lastest is here:

New Jersey Department of Agriculture
Memo
To: Veterinarians

From: Nancy E. Halpern, DVM, State Veterinarian

Date: March 24, 2010

Re: Possible EHV Outbreak

The New Jersey Department of Agriculture, Division of Animal Health is investigating a possible outbreak of Equine Herpes Virus 1 (EHV1). One horse tested presumptively positive and 3 horses have been euthanized with clinical signs consistent with the neurological form of the disease. The farm where these horses were stabled is under quarantine, as is another farm with epidemiological contact with the index farm. Both farms are in Monmouth County.

The state is investigating all movement related to this incident and will take all necessary measures to protect horses in New Jersey and other states. The Division of Animal Health Laboratory can test horses for EHV1. The samples needed for EHV testing include:

•Nasal swab in viral transport media (highly desirable) or 1 ml of saline (less desirable).
•Blood in purple top tube (minimum of 10 ml of blood required)

Veterinarians should call 609-984-2293 for further testing information.

UPDATE: Broker will be filling meat trucks Friday evening, several of these broker horses which may include this mare will be shipped Friday evening! Also I know an excellent QT farm in WVA with reasonable rates.

Me too. She usually rides everything and seems pretty confident, no saddle and all.

Quarantine is lifted.

Or something else that you have more info on that has a bearing on her? Your post seemed vague?
Sorry if it seemed vague. No there is other things going on. There is an outbreak of Neurologic EHV-1. A quarantine facility that received horses from Camelot has been Quarantined by the state of NJ. Another facility has also been quarantined in NJ. Those horses are now being back tracked. There is also a few cases of horses (broodmares) at the AC4H broker's lot with some odd health symptoms. NOT AT ac4h, lets be very very clear about that. Including the ASB gelding who dropped of a stroke. There were OTHER horses who also appeared to drop of strokes at that time. Because of the pipeline being what it is and neurologic EHV-1 Having the symptoms it does, I do not feel comfortable until the different state vets have had time to sort through where are these horses have been and been in contact with. The normal rescue efforts at Camelot were suspended this week. Frank often gets horses from New Holland. The horses as of now have not been back tracked completely. Camelot has been working with the state vet and their facility has been disinfected. That is as much information as i feel confident giving. I think there are many unanswered questions still and much information still to be disseminated.

I think the information at the top of the broker page at ac4h is a very valuable piece of information. Good Quarantine is essential, get insurance.

King's Black Ace Mare

We will rescue the mare but we've been unable to get in contact with anyone at ac4h, does anyone know the situation at this facility? Would very much appreciate any information.

Thanks so much,
Denise
