"I found a registered saddlebred mare, 7 yrs old for 50 on the craigslist here. I can get her, but can't keep her.


Her name is Ultimate Show. And she has been used as a recipient mare for embryo transfer.

This is a nicely bred mare and only a five year old according to ASHA...only one owner listed - her breeder.

I looked her up on ASHA to check out how she's bred.....wow. Just wow.

I can also help put her up for a short time also if we need time to find her a forever home, not sure how far she is from me though to get her here.

Does anyone else think that this is a strange situation, well bred, young mare used as an embryo transplant mare and now offered for $50, what went wrong, was she injured, not carrying to term, are her eggs being use, is she the recipient mare, I don't get it. These are the questions that are running through my head.

Is there some way to find out? Can someone possibly try to connect with the owner/breed?

I know the breeder. They do not live in Mt. Horeb so I'm guessing they sold this horse to someone there who never transferred the papers.

I have sent the breeder an email and will try to call her today.
