Eventers?

Who here events with their ASB? I know Rebecca Babcock events with her Manhattan's Review, and also shows at ASB shows. Anyone else? Is Rebecca a member on this forum? If you are - I'd love to hear about your eventing exploits! You are far braver than I am. I find myself leery of solid fences

I have a 50/50 NSH I jump etc... with. I'm planning on using my new ASB mare when she gets a little older too.

Thanks - I jump with my mare too. We've done 4' verticals and 3'6" oxers with 3'9" spread. I'm looking for people who do three-day eventing....cross country, dressage and stadium jumping.

The Neeses have a black mare they event. See her on the for sale page at FarField Farms, includes a contact to the Neeses.

I am very glad to hear that people are using ASBs and part ASBs for eventing. It seems like a "natural". I am also excited that the experiences described evidence the intelligence, athleticism, and versatility of the ASB and part ASB. I use mine for CDE and pleasure carriage driving.

Hello! I am Rebecca Babcock and I'm coming out of lurking.
To answer ASB-own-me's question, I started competing at lower level eventing to support the local equestrian association. I accidently found that "Becca" loves cross country! I also discovered that I am a chicken. If someone would just catch us at the end with a big net...

I suspect that "Classy" would also love the cross country part. If you have the opportunity, go for it!

She would love it but I'm chicken too - fences that can't fall really freak me out!

I started eventing at Amoeba level, not because of the low fence height, but because it is not timed and I could walk between the fences. This allowed "Becca" to relax and re-focus between the jumps. I didn't want to "ride the brakes" to the fences, but rather urge her with confidence to each obstacle.

I'm doing Tadpole now. They can pack some solid fences in a 2'3" space! Also , jumping into shadows and down hills can be interesting. How is your dressage?

Dressage would be a strong suit for her. She loves it and did quite well at it when we were training with someone. She even got to start pirouettes at a walk and trot

That's awesome! Have you competed in a dressage show or an event with her? How does "Classy" do in a legal dressage bit? It was a challenge for "Becca" to be soft in a plain snaffle.

I had the opportunity to gallop cross country without jumps today. It takes my breath away... so fun!

Another ASB eventer is Elizabeth Hoffman and Man About Campus. They were competing at beginner novice as of St. Louis 2007.
