Actually, no, it doesn't.
And the fact that you find it OK for a person not to feed or care for their animals is very, VERY disturbing.
I've agreed with much of what you've written in terms of the lawful use and interpretation of the regulations, but this is the end of the line for me. Everything you say will now be colored with the knowledge that you think it's not only OK to neglect a horse, it's OK to HURT a horse. Since it's not a PERSON.
That is a very steep and slippery slope you play on.
I'm with you on this one. And since alot of the laws in the United States are based on the morals/laws set forth in the Bible, I thought I would share from the Bible itself (serveral versions so as not to appear biased in anyway) Proverbs 12:10
New International Version (©1984)
A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.
New Living Translation (©2007)
The godly care for their animals, but the wicked are always cruel.
English Standard Version (©2001)
Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.
New American Standard Bible (©1995)
A righteous man has regard for the life of his animal, But even the compassion of the wicked is cruel.
GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)
A righteous person cares [even] about the life of his animals, but the compassion of wicked people is [nothing but] cruelty.
King James Bible
A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

Read what I said about not feeding the horse please.... I did not say it was OK... I said it was not the governments job to make sure people feed horses. I said I found it morally repugnant (and if it was my neighbor, besides not socializing with him, I would probably throw feed over the fence, even though it was not my legal responsibility. But it should not be illegal, becaue next it will be how much one feeds mandated by the govenmnet, and what you feed complete with inspectors etc... over something the government had no business in anyway.
Personal responsibility for ones own property and family, would go a long ways to fixing all the country's problems.

Please read the constitution, while our country is based on judao-christian law, they did not write the bible into the constitution. In fact the constitution is a restraint on government, to keep their hand out of private property among other things.
BTW while the bible has laws in it (yep you forgot about that pork eating thing.... God said goodbye barb q and ribs) you have ignored the actual judeo laws and quoted instead descriptions, btw there are jewish religious laws governmening the care of animals that were not written into our constitution, you also overlooke animal sacrifice .... but .in fact I do believe that horses could be on the menu, while pigs cannot...one also cannot have meat and dairy at the same meal etc etc things like that ARE the law in the bible. Along with the 10 commandments which does not address feeding your animals and only refers to coveting your neighbors a$$ and goods.

So THIS is what happens when a thread get's too long. Reduced to Godwin's Law and a lesson in Judeo-Christian ethics. Classic thread deterioration. Kill me now.:hang:

I read exactly what you said, several times. The fact that you think people should have the right NOT to feed or care for their horse, and they should have the right to hurt their horse, is DISTURBING.
Actually, it's DISGUSTING.

I agree. I'm sorry I brought the Proverbs verse into it at all.
If you don't feed your animals, you should be arrested and punished. Period the end.
IF you (general 'You" not specific you) sore your horses or other animals intentionally, I don't care if 3 billion people are fans of the sport, it does not make it right, it is against the law and if you are not punished in this world, I only hope that there is a special hell reserved for people like you (again general "you").
It is not a right to neglect another living being on purpose, nor do them harm. I paraphrase here, and I added above that that the verse was taken from several different versions of the Bible, but they are indeed quotes. I didn't bring the Bible or Torah up to discuss how to eat meat, clean meat etc, so please don't get off on a tangent with that.

Dang... I missed the hitler, if it was me I certainly did not intend to reference hitler... unless you are taking the overreaching governemnt to imply hitler (which I have not quite gotten to yet)..

This is definitely not about pads and action devices, but about a personal libertarian agenda and preaching that agenda to others. Have at, people, but I don't see anyone getting through to this person on any level as her agenda was already set when she made her original post.

Hasn't this thread from the moment it was started been about ethics morals and responsibilities we have to creatures that our placed in our care? Isn't this whole conversation about our stewardship over the lowly beasts? We can narrow the base down in any number of ways but in the end it still comes down to the same thing.
Nazis were also brought up even earlier in relationship to glenn beck's comments about the tragedy in Norway and that dang right wing conservative extremist.

Ok, I know I said I was leaving but I just couldn't resist seeing how much things were deteriorating and the hedgehog tempted me into yet another post.
I didn't know that HedgeHogs have Padded feet! Let's put some mustard oil on them and see how he moves! It could be the next big thing!

Hedgehogs ARE really cute, but they are truly nocturnal and it is rather stressful for them to be kept as pets for those who prefer daylight activities (most people).
Better to enjoy them in pictures and get a nice kitten or puppy or...foal!

well since they have pads, I reckon HSUS and Peta will demand they be removed, then we'll have all those little crippled hedehogs on the TV, with their sad little faces, I'm sure they will say that some TWH horse trainer did that to em, just send your money to HSUS so they can lobby congress...........

Nothing but their furry little faces and belly is soft, I'm afraid. That would be the sucky part. So cute but so prickly. Maybe I could learn to love the feel of quills against my cheek. lol

As a former zoo docent and wildlife teacher, I can attest to the fact that they are not soft, though they are very handle-able. Every blue moon an extra sharp quill will poke you, but nothing at all like what a porcupine would be (they are not hooked on the ends like a porcupine, nor do they come off of the hedgie to lodge in your skin). Interesting factoid, their quills are soft during birth, then harden as the newborn dries. Thank goodness for the mama!

I really think you are fighting a lost battle here - this is primarily an ASB board and you are not going to convince us to think as you do about your breed. So, my advice is to let the issue rest and agree to disagree.
BTW I have an awesome registered TWH mare that I trail ride.
