I know i had a similar thread last year but i cant seem to find it...

I moved to florida last year so i dont know the local horse scene know like i used to know the dayton area (ohio)! I wanted to get a horse but it seems that the way things are working out here it might be better to just lease/lessons for awhile (still looking for a horse for my daughter in OHio, but thats kinda a long story-she has been fighting it, loves her old horse doesnt want a new one, despite the fact she NEEDS a new one)

anyhow if someone could recomend a good barn with a lesson program it would be great! I live in Bell work in Gainesville. so the newberry area would be perfect. I would prefer an english barn, but am not against learning to jump/western...basically i need to get back on a horse regularly. I still kinda like the idea of buying one, but i am on the road travelling with my job so much that it doesnt really make sense...

ideas??

You have a PM, but I can put the rest of this out here....You are in an awkward spot for ASB barns/lessons. The closes to you is Euchee Matthews in Alachua, but I strongly doubt that he has any kind of lesson program. The number listed on ASHA site is 352.322.0216.
William Dooley is listed in High Springs, but I don't know if he gives lessons, either. 352.317.1892. Betty Gray is in Citra, just north of Ocala. She is mostly involved in therapeutic riding now, but has been a Morgan trainer, and her son is also active with the Morgans. 352.591.1486. Then, further away, are Christy Parker in Brunswick, GA (Pinehaven Stables). Hawkewood Farm in Floral City, FL. All of the following are in the Tampa area: Avalon , Judd Stables, Ruth Gimpel, Suncoast, Five Gait, Arbordale, MJO, and Bill Rogers (Silver Run Stables). All of their contact info is on the ASHA site. There is also an all breed show coming up at Canterbury Equestrian complex in Newberry on Feb. 4-6 called the Jubille of Breeds. It looks like it's sponsored by the Arabian assoc, but they've added classes for 'the rest of us.' You can google the Jubille or Canterbury for details. Good luck!

FYI - You can go into your own profile and look up all previous posts. It's really easy. :)
