Back last year when I was placing horses after my mom died, I was was pursuaded to lease my ASB mare to a family that moved to MD from TN. Their name is Rowe, father is Grady. They took the horses in June of 07. First pic was taken of Diamond the end if June of 07 when I visited to check on them. The second pic was taken in late aug 07 when I was told the horses where not being cared for. The Cecil County SPCA was involved, and told me that they where overseeing the horses and I could not take Diamond back. The agreement on the mare was she was not to be sold or placed, she was to come back to me.
Sometime in Dec 07 the Rowes took the mare to the New Holland auction. They where told she was too underweight to go thru the auction, and she was sold for $300 to a "Amish woman who breeds saddlebreds" in the parking lot. A friend in MD is trying to talk to the Rowes to get more information, as I cannot talk to them on the phone without exploding.
I need to locate this mare, if she had since been sold into a good home, I am ok with that, but I want first rights on her if she is resold. If she is still with the amish or in a rescue I want to get her back home. I rescued this mare as a thin starving baby, my vet told me at the time if it hadn't been for me taking her to my heated barn she would have been dead. This filly was so starved it took a week to get her eating grain.
Diamond is a unregistered ASB,4 years old, tall( 16hand +), thinner build mare. Solid chestnut with the star and strip, I included this first pic as she has a distinctive white mark on her right front knee, it is heavy white hairs mixed with chestnut. She is a very sweet and loving mare.
Any help in keeping a eye out for her, info if anyone knows who the Amish woman might be, ect appreciated. Please feel free to cross post as needed. My email is tonivr@gsinet.net my cell phone if anyone knows where she is is 603-490-6978

Wow! Do you live here in TN. That is where I live. If you can find out any information about the "woman who breeds saddlebreds" from the parking lot, you might be able to track her down thru someone that deals with the amish on a regular basis. If you are here from TN I have a name or two of some people you might get in touch with that might know this woman from the parking lot if you can figure out her name or even location. Please PM me if any of this helps! Sorry, I can't imagine being in that position. If everyone would do the right thing it would be easy. I don't understand why they wouldn't pick the phone up to let you know they couldn't afford to keep her anymore. sorry :(

Why don't you post this on the Saddlebred Rescue forum. http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/

Pat and Nelia go to New Holland on a regular basis, and have contacts there who may be able to help find this mare.

You might try emailing the photo to veterinarians in the area, too. They might recognize her distinctive markings.

Saddlebred rescue is your best bet. They had people at several of the December New Holland auctions, perhaps someone will remember your mare.

I'm in NH, not TN. Hopefully in the next 2 or 3 years either KY or TN will be home! I have contacted both Saddlebred Rescue and Another Chance for Horses, both said they will keep an eye out.

Most Amish woman do not handle money, so I'm thinking this must be a woman who sells to the amish or something. New Holland is in PA, and I have no idea where the woman may be from, people go from all over.
