View Full Version : Western hats - colors

Okay, I know someone out here will have the answer. Without going the custom dye route, I know that I've seen a page out on the Internet that had all sorts of different colors for Western hats. This was when I was on a search for an all-white hat. Of course, I did NOT mark it as a favorite.
I'm pretty sure it came from one of the regular saddle seat suppliers, but a quick search there turns up nothing.
So - for a hat of a different color, but NOT custom-dyed ... where do you go (no straw allowed, no fake felt, etc.)
Thanks!

I guess it depends on what color and quality you are looking for. If it is anything other than a neutral color (white, tans, greys, black, brown) you are going to be hard pressed to get a quality western hat. I'm talking 10x quality and up. I'd start with Bailey or Resistols websites and email them. When I worked for Rods I remember hearing that there are only a few factories that make fur felt hats and that all hat brands use them to make their hats.

try
rods.com
or
www.sergeantswestern.com
smithbothers may have a few felt color choices as well.

Nope, I'm not looking for a $250 hat. More like the $50 range to do local parades in.
Honestly - I know I saw one page that had green, red, purple, blue, pink, fuchsia, etc. all on the same page.
I've already looked at Rod's and Sergeant's, thanks!

Nope, soft/crushable isn't it. I'll know it as soon as I see it - and I could kick myself for not bookmarking it (oh, I'll remember it - yeah, right)

I'm sure this isn't the site,
but WOW! That's some hat!

Have you considered a light hat with green accessorizing....much easier to find.
Earth tones are in and even the green hats you find now are forest and khaki-camo.

The green is this time - I also need purple, burgundy and blue at some point.

I think it was me when I was Dream In Colour. I sold colored western hats. I'll see if I can still get them - they came in a whole rainbow of colors.

LOL, sorry Attafox, I've only ever had a black hat, so have no idea who'd sell a colored one :p

I have done specific searches before on ebay for the color hat I might want and came up with some interesting results. I did a search just now for "Purple Western Hat" and several possibilities came up and also a bunch of stuff in ebay stores that I didn't go thru completely. Here's one in an ebay store - it's pretty glitzy:

Might want to try this site:
http://www.shoebuy.com/sb/s.jsp?&Dept=AdultF&Req=ss&_P0=6253&scrc=-1&Page=1&sort=LOWERBRAND&geom=3x32
if you google shoe buy, there are coupon offers, too.

Reed Hill makes many colours including purple, burgundy & bright white. I did not see an emerald green one though! They are wholesalers only so you will need to get a retailer to order for you. I see 16 different colours avail.

Yep, those are the hats I carry. I don't know if my pricing is cheaper than buying direct or not.

FYI, I found quite a few western hats at shoebuy.com. There's even an orange one (but not green). Just in case you are till looking. Right now until the 16th they have 20% off and shipping is free (even for returns). I want the turquoise one! Sandi
