I am not asking for questions or critique, so I don't expect many replies. This post is just for the people on here that I have kept updated on Fred since I got him and always ask me to keep them updated (like D_BaldStockings, for instance).
So, updates:
(1) Fred got his "show shoes" on by one of the top show farriers in the area. His back end was changed up a bit from last year, where he had basic plates with trailers. This year: weighted plates with trailers and a rolled toe. It has helped immensely, he already is using himself better and his back end hasn't been bothering him.
(2) A vet came out to look at a boarder's horse last week. We asked her to just look at Fred and she was convinced that the problem is in his hocks and that they will need injected. She said that it doesn't look like his hocks are awful, but they will need something done. But, she said since he has shoes on and such that he should be okay to work/ride until his appt. His appointment to get a lameness exam (Dr. Klecker, I guess I have heard he is great with lameness/leg issues) and probably injections is on Thursday. So, I will let everyone know how that goes.
(3) So, since the vet said it was okay, I had a lesson on Saturday. It was my first day back in the double bridle since August/Sept of '09. He was amazing. I rode him for a while with no stretchies or anything of that sort. He was consistently level with no help, his back end was also good. When I mean with no help, he didn't even need baited. Which, for me, is very good--because I rarely can get him level without somebody baiting him for me. We worked on my position and learning not to balance off my hands, because that's why I always lose his headset... and I had barely any headset issues. His nose came untucked a few times but that was the worst of my worries. Besides that, no hauling, no throwing his head or trying to get away from the bit. My hands were great basically the whole time, so I guess I'm learning not to post with my hands.
When the lesson was over, we took Fred outside on the driveway in stretchies (the vet said it's okay to ride on the gravel with shoes) and I rode him up and down maybe 3 times. My mother video taped this for me and I will post it. It's a short video, not a lot to see, but I can tell improvements vs. the last video of me riding.

He was trotting the same before this (without the stretchies), which is great. We just wanted more stabilization and more cadence. There was no throwing his head at me or me leaning on his neck. So, I was proud. Yea, we have work-- Rome wasn't built in a day-- but that was even an improvement from the last lesson.

So, here ya go. I don't want any critique or anything, just want to let my friends see how we looked... because I was proud.
