So we picked up this little guy yesterday. He's a 3 y/o TWH gelding. Registered name is Bum's Final Fantasy. A good friend of ours owns a full brother of his and we love that horse so much, so that's what peaked our interest in this one, and they seem very similar in build, gait, and temperment. He is VERY green and hasn't been handled a ton, but is broke to ride and I'm into training projects, so it will be fun seeing what he can do. He will hopefully be a field trial horse for us, as I want to save Louie for show etc if possible since field trialing can be a hard life for horses (and I can't bear to make my poor spoiled baby sleep outside). But I also plan to show this little guy as I think he'll do really well- he's got a beautiful high-ish head carriage, nice neck, and an AWESOME gait. The reason I keep saying "little guy" is because he's only 15hh and probably won't get a ton bigger (which is good for a field trial horse- less distance to climb up and down on all day long).

Anyhow, we need a name for him. His barn name was "Lloyd" which is an okay name, but we're not crazy about it. So we're trying to think of something before it sticks. lol We want something sort of gruff, masculine, old-time name. His personality is not as "in your pocket" cuddly as most of the ASB's I know, he's kindof independent and rough around the edges, so we want a name that fits with that. I'd love to hear your suggestions! Thanks

Congrats on your new "glide ride"! Very cute, look at him gaiting nicely all by himself!
:euro: I'm thinking Bourbon, Whiskey, or Moonshine, because that's what I imagine a bum's final fantasy to be about.

thanks everyone! Great suggestions. I think we've got it down to Jack/Jackson/Jack Daniels/JD/Jacky or Johnny/Johnny Walker/JW/John.
I agree on the whiskey thing, and I like whiskey, so either would be fitting- but I prefer Jack when it comes to my beverage of choice.. Our other TWH's name is Cash, so both of those two names were in our first considerations so we'd have "Johnny and Cash" or Cash and "Jackson" like the song. Either way, I really can't decide. Hubby thinks he likes Jackson better. . . . I guess we'll see which one pops out of our mouth next time we see him! :)
Today I called him "Hoss." Lol, it seemed fitting. So we'll see. . . thanks for all the suggestions, you guys are awesome!

Wow, I came to this post way to late! I was going to suggest Jackson! Oh well.
I call my 3-year old Jack, Jacky or something like that. I recently moved him to a new trainer, and since there is another "Jack" there, they call him Jackson. I think its cute.
Just an FYI... If you end up naming your horse "Jack"... just don't forget all the words you can put behind "Jack." When my horse was still a stud, the helpers at the barn called him JackA$$ behind my back. I don't blame him! He was a HUGE handful... hense why he was gelded. :) Best of luck!!

James Dean. I guess JD could be either Jack Daniels or James Dean. He was just the epitome of a bad as* Cute horse! :)

When I think of Walker, I think of Chuck Norris.
How about just Whiskey? Or Bourbon?

lol. well I don't want this horse to have super human strength or anything crazy like that- we're going for calm, cool, and transport me from point A to point B safely. lol

So, like a combo of Chuck Norris and a Volvo. I Love it! I think Boss Hoss is cute too.

while I do absolutely love my Volvo, I think this horse is going to be a little more flashy than that, and he's got some get up and go!
interesting car correlation-
- hubby thinks this horse is going to be like a porsche (small and quick, light to handle, flashy, and big motor). His brother is definately a ferarri- he's one of the fastest out there and goes level in the field barefoot!
- he thinks our other TWH is like a cadillac (big, not quite as quick to turn or accelerate, but comfy and sensible ride)
- and I think Louie (my ASB) is like a BMW (fancy, easy to handle, intelligent, and extraordinary ;)) Hubby jokingly says he's a Ford Taurus. :tongue_smilie: I have to pleasantly remind him that no ASB is a Ford Taurus. ;)

I don't think I need to make any name suggestions, there are already some great ones here. I just popped in to say how nice he looks and his color is beautiful! I'm no expert on TWHs, but his gait looks awesome! Have fun!

Wondering of you landed on a name yet, Samigator?

Thanks everyone!
Yes we finally decided. Hubby was talking to his mother a few days ago and told her the horse's name is Jackson, so there we have it. His name is Jackson.
Here is a picture from our ride yesterday (sorry for the poor quality, it was super bright outside). He's been getting better each day as he gets used to our routine and expectations and we get used to him. He gaited really nicely as well yesterday- he's a lot more true and correct in his gait than our other walker, not at all pacey- I would go so far as to say this horse tends more on the trotty side of life when he is pushed. But really he has a very nice, even 4 beat gait, and he takes quick little steps rather than that rolly poly big-strided walk. :) Weee!!
