Hi Mods, if you have to delete, that's fine, but I was hoping by making a thread on the Arabian forum area that we could get funds raised. We have a rescue who will take her and then try to place her. She has age but is well bred. Hawk Hill's Firefly, a two time Nationals winner in Park Harness and Park under saddle in one year. The first Arabian horse to ever do this in one year at the Nationals.

I used to own a mare by this study who is LTF, CS She's So Fine. Thus my interest, plus used to be very close to the breeders from Dover, OH in the 80s.

I have donated $100, and we need a total of 600 to get her Coggins, shipped, etc.

Thanks,
Anne J

Hi Anne! I'm happy to tell you if you hadnt seen it, CS Pristine is being talked about on ABR. Here is her thread: http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=alexbrown&msg=42211.10

It appears we only need to raise an additional $268 to help bail her out of the bad place. Yay!!!

Mona
ps, can I tell you how proud of you I am? :) She needed an angel like you.

According to Terry at http://www.arabianrescuemission.org this girl already has a place to go. She just needs bail money.

Let's get this old girl to a nice warm place tomarrow!

BeccaKW, Christy is taking the pledges via PayPal as the last time Arabianrescusemission did not get all of the checks. In the meantime, if you want to talk to Christy at AC4H or the arabianrescuemission.com

Mona, I did not know that ABR was doing such a nice job. She's posted on Arabian Breeders Network and here. I at first overlooked her when we were talking about the Paso's and Hackneys, but then when I saw her registered name and saw the CS, I looked closer. I almost fainted as she looks a lot like my mare in the face/head, but her white was on the left hind. I think Pristine has just a little white on the right hind. They are close in age though if my mare is still alive somewhere in West Virginia. I just could not let her go to slaughter. I also know at the time these mares were foaled, the Synders in Dover had over a 100 head and actually gave my mare back to me, (she was bred from my walk/trot) and they were supposed to keep the foal, but gave her back at 6 months due to having too many horses. We had a fairly good, but short show career with Mark Burin driving and Lauren Burin riding. She was tough though, but I would take her back and Cory's stall is waiting for her if ever I find her whereabouts. I will never donate a horse again.

Oh Anne, I'm so sorry! I am glad we can help her sister at the very least. It appears Janet (brambles) polished off the last of the money needed to be raised for this girl and she is getting the heck outta dodge and going somewhere much better. Phew!

Honestly? I think CS Pristine was saved because of you, and she should be on the Trot list. If you hadnt taken the time to start shaking the trees, she would probably be gone soon if not already and not in a good way. Beautiful starfish, she is.

Anne, someone just posted this on ABR, thought you might find it interesting.

I just 'rescued' a mare JUST like this (but a 2 on the scale of fat, and she was free) in August. I have talked to some former owners, and the daughters of the one who was retiring the mare 'forever'-she died and bequeathed the mare to someone else - are taking her back to live in the pasture she was meant to retire and probably die in.

And I'm more than happy for that to happen. If a former owner feels that strongly and can take her back, then that's a good thing. You rescues can always make sure this man has your contact info in case something happens and he needs to rehome again."

Dont ever stop looking because you just never know when that break might come. If you have a pic of your girl you can email me, I'd love to have it so I can look for her too.

I will have to scan it and send it later this week, as I am swamped today and was painting all weekend and cleaned the barn and Grace got walked today and now have to scrabble to get ready for my trip. Thanks for the help. I was trying to track down feed stores in Salem WVA but came up short. I was told she was given to a family that was supplying the feed for Salem U, who knows though. That was over 10 years ago.

Thanks everyone, especially ABR forum friends who have done it once again! This mare is safe and her funds have been raised. There was a mix up at the brokers and they did not take her to NH for AC4H to hold her. She will be checked on tomorrow and taken next Monday to AC4H so that she can be picked up by Arabianrescuemission. I know that they will not have a hard time finding her a forever home as there are several between ABR and here on trot
that were offering her a home.

In case you have not seen these posts on the ABN and the ABR forums here is some interesting and noteworthy news about CS Pristine:

"Hi,

I bought CS Pristine as a weanling in 1989 along with her 1/2 sister CS Fortunate. Due to divorce I had to sell her and Morrafonique in 1994. Glen (who bought both) promised to keep them both. He did.
In 2002 when I was able to have another horse he bred both mares and I now have both young ladies in my pasture.

He gave Morrafonique to my neice in 2007. His daughter kept "Prissy".

This past July a friend of ours was sending a donkey he owned to a "retirement" farm in NY. Prissy was also sent there with the understanding that this "person" was keeping them both until death. If not they were to be sent back to WV.

This did not happen.

We are trying to find out what happened-----THIS PERSON WILL NOT RETURN OUR CALLS!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone knows the course of events that led this fantastic mare to be sold for meat PLEASE, PLEASE let me know.

You may contact me at klwhiteross@netscape.com.

Thank you in advance. "
