Based on your responses, here is the new plan:

Unless asked, admins will not edit posts. One unacceptable word, and it will be deleted entirely.

Deletion is dependant upon guidelines set up in "Our Rules" found at the top of the forum pages. Additional guidelines for particularly "hot" topics may also be implemented, and, as always, are at the discretion of the admins/moderators.

Please report posts that are not in compliance with the trot.org rules. We can't be everywhere.

Infraction Guides

For an egregious deletion such as a blatant classified or flame (i.e. double posts don't count against you), a system warning along with an infraction will be given. The infraction points (probation) will disappear after 30 days.

If a second infraction occurs within that 30 days, the user ID will be banned for 3 days. Banning means NO posts, NO PMs. You can read, but you can't play. There will be no warning at this point. Again, infraction points will be given for 30 days.

After that 3 day ban, if you still have problems controlling your fingers within 30 days, you will receive a 10 day ban. This time, the infraction (probation as it is) will last for 6 months.

Serious control issues? Another infraction within that 6 month time period and you will be banned from trot.

For those who continually "test" the limits of the 30 days, we will decide on a case by case basis.

And, think you're being a smarty pants and decide to sign up with a new user ID while banned? Better think again. Automatic infraction violation that ups you to the next level.

In order to implement this, we are opening up the forums while doing some testing of the system. It may not be perfect originally, but we wanted to open up the rescue forum.

If you play nicely and think before you hit send, you won't have a problem.

Not that I ever plan in getting "banned" BUT... I assume that if you register for ANOTHER account (just because you are banned) using the same IP address that will not be allowed??? Just want to make sure all basis are covered. :)

That already isn't allowed :ninja: . But, it brings up a good point, we'll probably regard that as an immediate probation violation ...

If you are in "testing" mode, do you need someone to be banned/nasty in order to test?:w00t: :ninja: j/k...

I'm really happy (for the horses that will need everyone here) that Rescue Me is reopened!

Some of you may be happy to know that yours truly will violate every rule of the book in signing up multiple times in order to test and subsequently get banned  :censored: Which of course means lots of logging on and off as the various users as I work through being bad, being the big bad admin, being worse, being the bigger badder admin ... etc.

Personally I've always found it fun to play with other people's personalities too.

Just not when it comes to Horse Rescue. :hammer:

Thanks for getting the forum back up! :D

Do the Additional Forum Guidelines apply just to the Rescue Me section, or are they applicable to the entire Trot.org forum (all discussions)? (I didn't see the guidelines added to the main forum rules which is why I'm asking.)

Thank you for re-opening Rescue Me. The new guidelines are incredibly fair and equitable and seem to bend over backwards to give folks a chance. :thumbup1: Now folks, let's abide by them. ;)

We violated our own rules in that they are a duplicate topic and are posted as a sticky at the top of the General Topics as well.

So, yes, this is a trot wide policy. Trina will have to put it into the forum rules.

And thanks for the kind words. Yes, it took longer than some would like, but we wanted to come up with a system that was more a "reminder" than it was a punishment, as the vast majority of people never have a problem.
