I wanted to know if any of you have any idea of how much I can get for a pretty new (only ridden in about 3 times) Stubben regular 21" suede cutback. We spent about 1,300 at National Bridle for it.

Although Stubben is a really good brand their cutback saddle is not that popular. Here is a nearly new condition one that just sodl on eBay for $558 and I have seen several other go in that price range http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=200182510753&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=010

Someone at a tack shop that deals with cutback saddles frequently may be able to appraise your saddle for you. I don't know how tack shops usually go about doing that, but you may want to email or call a few and maybe they could tell you by pictures?

Instead of making another topic, I will just add my question here.
I am in the market for a new saddle. I need to learn how to measure the saddle I have, and also use that information to get the proper size? for my new one. So...how and what do I measure when wanting to know the sizes of saddles?
Thanks!!!!

Well, there are two measurements, the measurement for you (the seat size) and the measurement for your horse (the tree size).
To measure seat size use a flexible tape measure and measure from the nail head on the pommel of the saddle in a slightly diagonal line to the center of the edge of the cantle.
The tree size can be trickier. If you don't know what it is and it is not marked on the underskirts of the saddle anywhere there really isn't any reliable way to measure what the tree size is. The best method I have heard for guesstimating tree size for your horse is to do a back tracing, shpaing a heavy wire to your horses back at the place BEHIND the shoulders where the front of the saddle will be, tracing that onto paper and using a protractor to measure the angle. Then take a photo of the saddle, taken head on and level while the saddle sits on a saddle rack and draw a line to follow the angles of the br and panels of the saddle on each side than use the protractor to measure that. You want the angle to approximatly match.

Hi, if you sell it at e*** be sure to offer it in Europe, too, 'cause used Stuebben cutbacks are rare and due to the dollar-euro-relation they may spend more than 600 Dollars for them over here.
Hope, this helps, Titza

If you purchased it from National Bridle, you may be able to get a better deal by trading it in on another saddle they carry...or if you want a saddle from a different shop try trading it in at that shop...... also World Champion has good rate of sale of used saddles they take in on consignment.....they all will give you an estimate of their value...

I agree, go on ebay. You can get it cheap for new and/or used. Just pay attention what size it is.

ASB_EQ_Gal, what did you find was the turn off of your Stubben? I bought one too, and I don't like it. I found the position of the billet straps pretty weird - the third billet is placed to far away, that my girth can't reach it, and it sits too high on the horse, and I don't have a girth that is long enough to strap it on my horse!

HAHA funny for you to comment this. But to answer your question right off the back we haven't heard from them yet, we'll need to call them. We send it to World Champion
We bought that dang saddle for over 1300 and it was the WORST saddle I ever rid in too. I had the same problems. I called it the TWO BY FOUR! That's what it felt like when you were riding in it. Stubben's are known to not have good cutback saddles.
I'll let you all know as soon as we find out how much we get for it
How much did you pay for your Stubben?

I got mine for under $1000 as the Stubben guy didn't want it anymore. No one knows what Saddle Seat is in Alberta, and he just couldn't sell it.
