Our Jack Russell, Todd, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Monday. I had noticed he seemed a little "off" Sunday night, and called the vet to make an appt. Monday morning. DH called when I was on my way home to get him to let me know he had passed. It was a complete shock - he did not give any indication that he was dying - he just seemed like he was just feeling a little poorly. Needless to say, Monday was not a joyful night in our household.
Todd was a gift from Morgan's friend, and we had had him since he was a puppy. Morgan picked him when he was born, and counted the weeks down until we could bring him home. She named him Todd because her favorite movie as a child was The Fox and The Hound - her horse's name was Copper Fox, so it was only appropriate that her dog be named Todd. He was not a typical Jack - he was not extremely hyper, although he did have the "I'm a big dog in a little body" syndrome, and would chase a ball as long as you had the energy to throw it. He was a pretty thing, and fathered (not on purpose) a litter of "Welsh Russells" with our Corgi, Angel. We kept one of those babies, so we have a little bit of Todd still with us.
RIP Todd - we certainly miss you here. :(
