You are once again invited to participate in this hands on clinic and bring your horse. Bret and Susi Day have promised their return as our featured clinicians for the Penn Ohio Futurity this year at the Champions Center. These accomplished and nationally recognized training couple will focus on finishing touches for the polished look that makes their show string stand out. There WILL be a long lining demonstration too. ASHAO will have their winter tack swap and following all of this fun will be the OHIO LIMITED BREEDERS STAKE AUCTION. Last years event paid out nearly 30,000 in prize money. Contact Marcia Belcher 330-625-1009, Mary Waickman 330-721-7225 or Wendy Lewis 419-652-2524.

As a response to out AOTR forum question the Penn Ohio Futurity will be adding this component.

I would be happy to do a preclinic tail and tailset inservice. This will be in the stabling area. Mary and Marci will be assisting me.

To be discussed

1. How to fit a tailset
2. Compare cruppers
3. How to bandage a tail into the set correctly
4. How to tie into the set and apply a tailnet correctly
5. How to cover with a tail bag
5. How to apply a tail guard.
6. How to tie a tail with a shoestring
7. How to choose and apply a brace
8. Correcting the crooked tail
9. How to avoid tail problems
10.Questions?

That is awesome!! That will be SO helpful as my horse has a s shaped crook in his tail that frustrates me when putting the set on and makes it even more fun to put a brace on. Thank you for doing this!

Jana,

Are you bringing your horse? Would be good for discussion and to see if we can come up with something to help his issue.

What time will the "tail" session be?

Plan on 12:00 for the tail inservice. Bret will begin the training portion at 1 pm. I think we can cover most of this information in about 30 minutes. Looking forward to this little extra presentation.

Hello:

I am sorry to tell you that the outlook for the clinic is grim at this time. Right now, February 3, I have 12 paid registrations. We are only 3 weeks away from the clinic date and I am not hopeful that the response is going to pick up. I have made the decision that if we do not have 50 paid reservations by the 14th, the clinic will be cancelled. To proceed without at least being able to recover the cost of the event is not feasible. The futurity does not have a large operating budget and we cannot afford to extend its reserve funds without hope of at least breaking even.

:D Marci told me this morning that she had received some emails and some reservation forms after my last post. Thanks !We are very hopeful that the rest of you can get to the mailbox now! We understand! I for one have been diagnosed with a severe case of MI (mailing impairment). See you at the clinic!

Three weeks away to our auction on February 28th. Reminder that I must receive dinner reservation checks by February 20th to give our wonderful new caterer a head count.Come join us after the Bret and Susie Day Clinic for a fun social hour followed by dinner and the auction and plus a fabulous Silent Auction. View our website at ohiolimited.com for a listing of the stallions being offered and details on the event.
We recently added Attache's Royal Assets, Fort Chiswell's Royal Rumor and Mountain Empire. What a great way to end our winter blahs. Help keep these events going.:flowers:

35 paid registrations and I know how you are you at the door folks. Clair needs $$ for the caterer so send that to her asap. Did you all read the cost of the ASHAV clinics? Do you know what a deal this is?? WOW! We should have 300 people at the clinic.

Thank you to those of you who have followed through with your Bret and Susie Day clinic reservations and dinner reservations for the Ohio Stallion Auction that same evening. I realize we are all busy, but it is very important when putting on these type of functions to have as accurate a head count as possible. A lot of work goes into planning these events and we want the best time to be had by all!! Mare Owners, if you need to make a phone bid, there are two cell phone numbers listed on our web page ohiolimited.com
or you can call me Claire Messerly 740-654-1101 and I can make sure you will be called when your stallion choice is up. You may also give me your choice and your bid limit and I can bid for you. A beautiful young black stallion was recently added to our list, The Knight's Reflection. Get those dinner reservation checks in the mail to me by the 20th. I have faith in all of you passionate Saddlebred owners out there. See you on the 28th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get movin................:scooter:

Could someone re send me a form to fill out or in an email so I can print it? I think the dog ate my homework HAHA . We are thinking about attending and will decide here in a couple days if we think we can dare get away from the barn for a day. What time does it all get underway ? What all is on the agenda clinic wise? How much is the dinner/clinic tickets? Thanks! Hummellex@aol.com

So who all is going to this? We're leaving tomorrow because I had to tempt my husband with the wonderful antique malls down the road. I will be there for the tail clinic, and the main clinic, but I'm not staying for dinner.

Hope to see you all there.

I'll be there with some friends!! I've been looking forward to it... I need all the advice and help I can get!!

I plan to scope out the used tack and go to the mini-clinic on tailsets. And we are staying for the dinner- I don't have a mare to breed, but it should be fun anyway!! :D

Bummer, kaitsmom, I'll miss seeing you there... but I understand the whole "work" thing- it SO interferes with life! LOL

Maybe I can finally put some faces with forum names!! :flowers:

I will be going with some of my bestest horse friends. Staying for the dinner too. Just a great excuse to get together and talk about horses and enjoy a girls day out while hopefully learning some valuable information!

It was a wonderfully informative 3 hours! :D Although next year I don't know that you want to bill the arena as "heated".... Nice job with the bit demo, too - made a lot of sense!!

What a great summary. I was unable to be there - so I especially appreciate this detailed description - and so beautifully written too! Clem, Kim and Keith were there from Sunset Farm and we did purchase a stallion breeding - Attache's Royal Assets.

Thanks so much Brita.
