dropping in to report that I had to put my gelding Night Ruler down on Aug. 26th. His papers were not transferred through the last couple of owners. He was 24 years young and was the best academy horse anyone could hope for.
His last show was in June, the Summer Fun show in Tampa, and he carried one of my riders to a walk/trot Eq blue ribbon. We were looking forward to showing him at Harvest Days.
He battled Cushings the last couple of years of his life and it was complications from Cushings that resulted in his being put down. He very quicky turned neurological and we suspect that the pituitary tumor that causes Cushings may have been pressing on his spinal cord.
If any of his previous owners are on here and read this, I would be interested in photos from when he was younger to share with my students. He was a stunningly beautiful horse even as an oldie.
