Okay, what I want to know is how can someone have full tuition paid - and be going to school, yet the work hours are 8-5, M-F? Aren't those normal school hours as well? I realize that it does say "hours to be arranged," but it does sound like a 40 hour week that may well conflict with schooling.

I am a licensed Veterinary Technician and I teach for Lincoln Memorial University. One of our benefits is tuition remission for ourselves and/or our family. Many Universities realize that there are many students in the full-time work force that want to go back to school for whatever reason. As a matter of fact, my husband is actually taking advantage of my tuition remission benefit and is taking 16 credit hours this next semester while working a 40 hour work week. His classes are in the evening and online thus allowing him to continue to work and attend school.

I don't know about OSU but I'm sure that many Universities are tailoring their schedules to also include the 5 day a week workers...

Attafox,

Let me clarify - the email says "FULL PAID Tuition" NOT "Full-Time" Paid tuition. The Ohio State University provides up to 10 paid credit hours per quarter, paid in full, for full-time staff. In addition, for quarters where a major requires more than 10 credit hours, the University will pay the additional hours, if requested by the staff member. The University encourages departments to provide flexible hours/options to staff in order to attend classes - when possible. Having previously managed the University Benefits programs, I can attest to how many staff have successfully worked full-time and completed a degree - at all levels (bachelors, masters, phd). This is why we were recently named one of the best academic employers when it comes to benefits!
