The Kentucky Spring Premier Show will be held May 1-3 at the KY Horse Park in Lexington, KY. Bret Day will judge all divisions except Morgan, Friesian and Academy which Conky Price will judge. The class schedule has been streamlined with the show running from Thursday afternoon through Saturday evening. The open stakes are being held on Friday night, a full Academy division on Saturday afternoon and the amateur and juvenile stakes on Sat. night. The footing and ring size are being improved per trainer's requests and a Derby party (with tv coverage of the race, a barbecue and cash bar) will be held prior to Saturday night's performance. ADDED INCENTIVE!! The show is offering $500.00 to the KY trainer with the most entries and an additional $500.00 to the out of state trainer with the most entries. The show will benefit the American Saddlebred Museum and most of the trophies have been purchased from the Museum's Gift Shop. Stop by and tour the 2008 Saddlebred and Kid's exhibit and check out the gift shop. Many other great vendors will be set up around the ring area so come and shop for "horsey" gifts between classes. For more info see the complete show press release at SHR online or contact Scarlett Mattson at 270-547-2407. Get your entries in and come join the fun!!

Remember to get your entries in for the KY Spring Premier Horse Show. The more horses you bring the better your chances of winning the $500.00 trainer's purse for the most entries at the show! The Show, held on Derby weekend, will benefit the American Saddlebred Museum this year. Perfect timing as the Museum is getting ready for an expansion that will change the look of the Museum.

TRAINERS WITH JUNIOR EXHIBITORS - we are offering Junior Judging during the Friday evening session. This is great experience for junior exhibitors and it's fun for them to see if their opinions "jive" with the judge's. Flyers will be available in the horse show office or if you have any questions please send me an e-mail. auburntiger@insightbb.com

And don't forget there will be a special intercollegiate saddle seat riding assocation horse show Saturday as soon as the academy session is over! Teams from EKU, UK, and Morehead are coming, as well as other individual riders!

What is the dog policy at the Horse Park? A friend may be driving up with me, but wants to bring her puppy with her. I told her I thought she could as long as Bella was on a leash. Let me know!

Entries seemed very light this afternoon, a trend I fear will be seen in many places. However, there were some great horses there today.
A big hand to Mitchell Tunstall and I See Daylight on a great show in the 3 Gtd Pony class. It is great to see a young horse that had such a tough start in life progress!
Also, the Junior 5-Gtd division is going to be awesome - but Take It From the Top and Amy Dix Rock rocked the house! This stunning youngster by Top Spool and out of CH My Front Page Lady was fantastic! They will be a force to be reckoned with. (On a side note - has anyone noticed how many nice horses Top Spool is making lately?)
Good luck to everyone tonight and tomorrow!

I was there yesterday and the entiries where down, but however the few horses there where absolutely stunning!

I also enjoyed seeing Ch Perferred Prince there with his young eq rider. What a handsome horse. He used to be at the barn I used to be at. I sure hated to see him leave. He really is a wonderful horse for a young and up and coming rider!

I remember seeing Glenda Pugh show him at Lexington to win the 3-year-old 3-gaited stake. It is one of my all-time great memories. How can that be 20 years ago! Such a grand gentleman, he still is...

My mom and I made the show for Friday and Saturday nights. We have never been, but both had a great time! The classes weren't full, but the horses that were there were nice. It was a great change of pace to see horses that we don't usually get to until Lexington or Louisville.

Saturday afternoon I competed in the ISSRA competition. I have to say, I had a blast! Every college aged student needs to look further into it ... I am by no stretch and Equitation rider, but I feel like I really learned a lot. Things certainly have changed since I showed in the 10 & under WTC equitation classes to avoid having to show against the nice 3 gaited horses that were on our circuit with my first horse! Thank-you to Dr. Sally Haydon, and all the others that put together the competition :]

I also took photos from railside, and my proofs may be seen on my website, or directly at:

Congratulations to all the winners!

I wanted to add to what Bee said- the ISSRA show was sooo much fun, we really had a great time. I know there are a couple others on here that competed as well, so great job to all!
Hopefully we can have it again next year and get even more people to show!

LyndaM, Prince just keeps on ticking away like the engerizer bunny! I bet he was a really handsome horse is his younger days! You would never know he was over 20, he has to be about 22 or 23 now!
